Joseph Petraglia
Founder/Owner
Joseph approaches public health and behavior change from his work in rhetoric and learning theory. He sees behavior change as a largely persuasive process in which members of the public need to articulate for themselves their barriers to change and identify their own solutions. Joseph established GHC in 2003 and provides input to GHC projects and strategic goals. 

Martha Scherzer
Managing Director/Owner
Martha Scherzer has a master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane University. She has worked in public health in the United States, East and Southern Africa and Southeast Asia, focusing on program management, health education and behavior change for most at risk populations since 1996. Based in Atlanta, GA, Martha oversees all of GHC’s international and domestic projects.

Heather Saul
Sr. Associate for Programs and Development
Heather Saul has a master’s degree in Anthropology and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science, where she focused on Medical Anthropology. She has worked in international development since 2004, most recently for The Carter Center’s China Program. Heather’s role at GHC includes project and program design, materials development, evaluation, research, fundraising and general administration.

Emily Schweninger
Sr. Program Associate, Maputo
Emily Schweninger has a master’s degree in Public Health from Tulane University where she focused on Communication strategies and HIV Prevention in the department of International Development. Her experience ranges from working with peer educators to improve health services and access for migrant communities in the United States, to researching innovative health interventions in South America, and most recently working to reduce the risk of HIV in Mozambique among vulnerable populations. Based in Maputo, Mozambique, Emily manages material development and training coordination.

Emelia Banda
Sr. Financial Officer, Maputo
Emelia Banda is responsible for financial management, reporting and compliance with financial and administrative policies. She has seven years of auditing, financial management, grants compliance and consulting experience with major donors including European Union, CDC and USAID. Emelia is currently in her 2nd year of MBA study with University of Leceister in the UK.

Abdul Kamal Kamal Aiuba
Project Manager, Cabo Delgado
Abdul has previously worked at the National Council to Combat HIV/AIDS and for the Aga Khan Development Network. He currently functions as GHC’s project manager in Cabo Delgado where he organizes monthly meetings, project activities, and training.

Fernando José
Project Manager, Nampula
Fernando has previously worked for CARE and Salama. Currently, he works for GHC as a project manager in Nampula where is organizes and implements project activities and training programs.

Eulália Machava Belchior
Finance and Administrative Assistant, Maputo
Eulália has previously worked for LAM – Mozambique Airlines, BancAbc and Final Holding. She currently functions as GHC’s Finance and Administrative Assistant in Maputo where she supports the admin and finance system and deals with all human resources issues.
